Description

BEEG thanx to all you wonderful ppl who helped with the Caracal's name and to all who left fantastic comments! I forgot which country the pink flamingo comes from, the white ones come from Chile. This one was busy bathing in the little pool of water and them started drinking, you can see a drop falling from his beak back torwards the water... So let me tell you about a winter's sunset in smoggy urban town. The sun has gone past the horizon and the sky starts in a grey hazy and then a purple band with red changing to yellow on top. A few mintues later and teh colours have swapped with purple touching the horizon and red expending to grey on top. The purple then changes to a deep red and yellow which quickly fads into light blue with a deep blue on top. When the light blue fads it becomes red and orange from the city lights with a deep blue then purple and then a deep colour just between blue and black. And that is how the night stays. I sat watching on Sunday so that all you guys who live in rural areas can "see" and urban sunset. All of these colours only occur in winter when smog and poplution are so thick in the air that we can't see the sea (that we normally can) and the air is dry dry dry coz it hasn't rained for 2 weeks. Tx for the click! P.S. My fav image from yesterday: azy - The Barley Factory At Night

Very nice capture and nice clear diagonal composition ! You can be proud of it. Only the sharpness would need to be improved (notice it is better than in the previous photos).

Very beautiful image Vera! Everything is perfect (also agree with what jinet said) - there is another way that I use that involves duplicate layer, filter-high pass (use slider so pic barely shows thru grey), and use the pull down menu in your layers box and choose from 'overlay, soft light, hard, vivid... and so on - really good way to sharpen for different situations. Anyway, great pic! Have a great day +++

I love this pic PW. I was watching the Blue Planet on tv last night and they had a brief look at flamingos. Was super... Hey when are you going to go down to the beach and capture shore life (crabs etc)? Hugs!

Great capture Vera! I love those pink flamingos! Well done. Was this shot at the Umgeni bird park by any chance? The pond looks familiar. I burned hundreds and hundreds of 35mm frames there shooting the same and similar subjects! lol.
