Description

...third attempt at this - for me at least - very difficult theme: The damp overcast forest, subtle ligthing etc. I think I'll return to this until I've reached the point where I can actually smell the moldy air. Not quite there yet...well, if I get really close to the screen there's a faint smell of damp soil - which means it's getting closer to what I'm after :) Reworked scene of a previous posted render, but with very high resolution (procedural) conifers and some changes in the ecosystems in general. And of course a new atmosphere / lighting setup. Don't ask about the difficulties (crahses etc.) in finishing this, there were many. With tree file sizes exceeding 100 mb you're asking for trouble :) Toolbox: Vue 5 Infinite, Onyxtree (conifers are procedural with bitmapped trunk textures. Foreground "oak" trees use UV bitmapped textures made in me in Photoshop). Grass & moss with Bantam3D "Grass". Pinecones on the ground are XFrog models. Fern by "McDetti" - a brilliant freestuff model, I love it. Thanks! A little more than 3.000 mio polys, rendered in 4.5 hrs in "Broadcast" with Global Illumiantion Hope you like this version, comments etc. very much welcome and appreciated. I know this is a "dull" kind of picture, but for me I find great pleasure and challenge in making these subtle and - in fact - very difficult scenes. Have a nice day - Lars

This is fabolous. I have no experience with Vue, but I love the forest. You are very, very close to your goal, I think.

It really a wood in marshland. It is a lot of such woods in an average strip of Russia. Therefore he seems to me very plausible.

You are looking for true challenges... your work on this forest is absolutely stunning. Ok, it's not photo-realistically, but imho its on the edge of what can be done with Vue's vegetation. Bravo!

I think all those crashes were worth it; This render reminds me of the camping trip we took up in Sequoia national park a long time ago;Very beautiful image.

runs to Onyxtree I've never achieved results of this, and I've hardly seen anyone do this too. Awsome work, keep it up! p/s: Use rendering filters- decrease hue and use black as a color perspective- may help. More fog on the ground/ alpha-mapped smoke might give the effect you want, too.
