Description

October 10, 1927. A radio operator receives a signal he has waited for all day- from the American airship "Griffin", traveling south from lower Egypt, in search of a lost valley of buried kings. "Allen to base...have made approx 500 miles since departure...midday sandstorm forced course change...#3 engine damaged in storm, forced to lower altitude. Observed flashing object in distance at 17:30 hours... investigating, can make out two pyramids in distance... strange markings on desert floor but too much mist and sun is setting...will land and make report in morning...all in good spirits...Allen out" That was the last message received from the Griffin- professer Allen and the 16 man crew were never heard from again, nor was the location he described ever found. After a brief search, they were pronounced lost for good. Yet, throughout the decades that followed, on occasion, radio operators around the world would report a signal, on a long forgotten wavelength; the only word distinguishable through the static..."Griffin". Fantastic terrain - very well rendered. The mist looks great too. Love the story as well as it adds to the mystery of this image.
