Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

Wow!! I agree with MrM - doesn't Nat Geographic have a website? I think you should enter this capture to their site. This is truly something else! Well done! And thank you for sharing this with us.

A spectacular image. How close were you? Does it have a wierd smell in the air? Can you hear it?
sharky_
Rozanne-I was about a 1/2 mile away from this massive steam. I could not smell the steam air and its a good thing because its composed of HCL which is dangerous for the lungs. Normally, lava streams are very quiet unless the bench collapse into the water where sometimes it will explode and hurl rocks into the air. For this one, I could not hear any sounds. Aloha
