Description

Aialik glacier originates in the Harding Ice Field, near Seward. At the terminus it's about 2 km wide. When we got here, they shut down the boat and we sat in silence for about 20 minutes, listening to the glacier moan and crack, and watching it calve. More pictures to follow. :-) If you have the bandwidth, look at this one full-sized.

This is impressive, to say the least. Seeing the glaciers and watching them calve was one of my favorite experiences of our trip. And before I got there I had no idea how they moan and creak and "crack" like the shot of a rifle. This brings back great memories.

Beautiful shot Cosine! Is that the real color of the ice? How many shot have been put together? Or is it one shot cropped? ;Zacko- of course you have to see it in full size! I don't understand why people doesn't look at all the pictures in full.
