Description

MacFormat magazine (http://www.macformat.co.uk/) commissioned me to conceptualise a future iMac to accompany a related article. I based the design on current Apple design trends, as well as the previous iMac incarnation (which is my favourite). The iMac features a 30" utra-thin LCD screen, which is totally transparent when the iMac is not in use. The screen can also be set to various levels of translucency, and can fade during sleep modes etc. The keyboard is also totally tramsparent, low profile and a curved ergonomic design, with light sensitive illuminated keys. Everything is of course, wireless. :) Cheers

What OS version are you running? Cheeta? But top notch design. Will take a while i guess before everything really gets so thin.

Damn fine concept, elegant and simplistic. I presume the cd/dvd slot loads from the top?

Well done! In this era of fantastic electronics, it's nice to see the simple and elegant possibilities that are possible. (=

Very cool concept! *****5STaR I really like those speakers that double as candle stick holders:p I wonder how lighting would effect the screen. Sun light and ambient room light bla bla. How long did it take you to do this project, from concept to final render?

Thanks folks! - Sans2012 - can't remember how long exactly as it was done at intervals over a few days - maybe 12-15 hrs total.

Nice! Top notch concept indeed. Macs have, at least since the G3 B&W, always been a graceful blend style and powerful. Can't wait for this one.

beautifully imagined and rendered - my only concern is that with a see-through screen people at work would be able to see I was using C4D rather than doing my real job!

That's a really clever piece of work - in design as well as 3D work. Well done!

Mind boggling work - congrats on all your hard earned effort! Can you ship one to the U.S. by way of California? ;-)

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple steals your design! Fantastic and totally keeping with the Mac's evolution. The only thing I don't think I'll like it this curved keyboard (my thumbs would keep bumping into each other) :)

It is not ergonomic to have a keyboard curved that way. To be ergonomic, it must be curved the other way round. If it's curved that way, you must bend you hands even farther apart, causing even more stress to them. See, this is ergonomic: http://www.hardware-pacers.com/reviews_images/msdesktop5000/mainkeyboard.jpg Here is why. See this image http://www.ergonomics.co.uk/products/input/keyb7300.jpg Her hands are absolutely straight (following the line of her arms). On a normal keyboard you are bending your left hand to the left and your right one to the right like shown here in the image http://www.everythingusb.com/images/list/mskeyboard4000posture.jpg And this is bad. If you bend a keyboard like shown above, you make the situation even worse and the keyboard even more unergonomic than a normal one. This is so typical. People should first get the technical background about something before they try to design in that area. You can't design by just doing whatever looks good if you have no idea about how things work.

Wicked! Finally I can open up a transparent window in my screen to see who's approaching from the other side so I can close my pr0n before they reach me! Woohoo!

BRAVO! Not only is this a spectacular set of images, but this is an awesome display of industrial design skills with a sensitivity to cutting edge technologies that can only be described as "Uberkewl". Amazing work... again, Adam! :o)

This is an awesome design both for the MAC and for the graphic. I also would buy one if this MAC were available today. The only issue I see with the design is that ergonomic keyboards do not bend inward, as this would cause more strain on the arms and hands. Ergonomic keyboards bend outward to fit the nartural position of the arms, see this site for a reference -> http://www.ergonomicsmadeeasy.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=27 If you want to be on the cutting edge of ergonomic keyboards like the cutting edge of this design, I would suggest a split keyboard that folders up in the middle to truly fit the natural positions of the hands as well like this -> http://www.ergonomicsmadeeasy.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=19 or like some of these others -> http://www.ergonomicsmadeeasy.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=209. Otherwise this just awesome and I hope they come out with something similar.
