Description

For a friend of mine, who's a great guy and an inspirational athlete - a few years ago he came off his motorbike - bad enough - but then got hit by on oncoming car, breaking his back (t4) and paralysing him from basically the armpits down. I met him when he turned up to train for half-marathon, less than six months after getting out of hospital. He's a mono-skier with a shot at the next Paralympics and someone who works tirelessly to raise the profile & facilities for disabled athletes across the UK. This render is a bit of wishful thinking (and I certainly hope it doesn't offend or upset anybody - it's meant as a tribute to some tremendous courage and determination), but hey, todays science fiction is tomorrows science fact. I ummed and ahhed over posting it, but in the end I figured if you can't post a tribute to a friend and include a future hope for them - however currently remote - then disability sports will continue to be hidden, not talked about, and get the thin end of the funding wedge. Champion your mates and respect your enemies, after all ;) If you want to know more about mono-skiing, try the BPA website, or just enter the term into google for info relevant to your area - it's a fab sport and takes your breath away to watch. I love this pic and I certainly hope know one will take offense. I think its great that you also include a way for us to look up information on the internet more of what your friend is involved in. Great posework and the outfit really serves its purpose. Good luck to his friend and overcoming his unfortunate accident. Excellent rating!!.......Shannon ;}
