Description
The North Pinellas Historical Museum is located inside "The Hartley House" in Palm Harbor, Florida. This house is fascinating. Well, the couple who built it are fascinating. In 1910, Mr. Hartley purchased *one* machine that produced concrete blocks. This machine made three concrete blocks at a time, and they were cured by being left in the sun. Because he was a frugal and patient man, he said there was no point in buying more than one of these machines, so the whole house was built 3 blocks at a time. It took nine years, and in 1919, Ida and Tom Hartley moved in.
I wish I could have gotten a shot of the house itself, but due to its proximity to a major road, there is no way to really capture it. So I stayed inside. I need a wide angle lens!
This was the mail sorter used in the Palm Harbor Post Office until the 1980s. It was donated by the Palm Harbor Historic Society.
