Description

Took some friends to see the lava flow July 2 as there were outbreaks of surface lava way on top of the hill. While they were taking picture of the surface lava (a'a), I climbed a little higher to make sure they were safe and no outbreaks of lava headed their way. Lava did move between us but we were safe. Helicopters and light planes were flying all above us. Looking back down where lava enters the sea, you will see no surface lava as the major flow is moving thru lava tubes. We did see the skylight afterwards and the lava is moving fast like a river towards the sea. Our hike finally ends after 12 hrs in the lava field. Aloha and thank you for viewing
