Description

"Remember when you were young, You shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, Like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond." ~ lyrics from Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd

I'm sure many of you have heard by now of the July 7 passing of legendary musician Roger Keith "Syd" Barret at age 60. While his musical career was fairly brief (by today's standards), he made a lasting impact on his fellow band mates in Pink Floyd, on David Bowie and many others. While many musical careers seem to be like fires that have since dampened into slow burning embers, his was like a flare -- bright, colorful and succinct. ----- SYDISMS Fairy-tales are nice. Have you seen the roses? There's a whole lot of colours. I don't really read a lot. Maybe I should. I like songs that are simple. I wasn't always this introverted. I'm disappearing, avoiding most things. I'm full of dust and guitars. I'm sorry I can't speak very coherently. I'm treading the backward path. Mostly, I just waste my time. ----- Thank you for your volitant comments on my last upload, TSLOF ~ The Sequel.

He has gone to the Great Gig in the Sky, but his musical influence will last forever... a fitting tribute!

I thought of that quote as soon as I saw your thumbnail - before I saw that you had already used it. Now I know what album I should be listening to as I drive home tonight!

Nope, that's news to me! Poor old bugger! I think many people walk a thin line between what is considered sane and insane. Barret did give us many jewels before his self impossed exile. Wonderfully warm and thoughtful memorial. Shine on! The thumbnail is perfect!

"There is an area of the mind that could be called unsane, beyond sanity, and yet not insane. Think of a circle with a fine split in it. At one end there's insanity. You go around the circle to sanity, and on the other end of the circle, close to insanity, but not insanity, is unsanity." I guess he crossed that line.

It's a tribute and understandable. Most folks need the reminder of a face, which blinks nicely in the thumb. I'd prefer the main image without the distraction. Simple, clean, with marvellous depth and light. Cast your electric garlic bulbs on the water....

My favorite song, too. Other than Wish you were here, and well, now we all really wish he was here. Thanks for the tribute, it gave me chills. Shine on.

'Wish you were here' is the only Pink Floyd album I own, on vinyl... and still think it was a good choice. May all the crazy diamonds continue to shine! A mighty fine tribute!

What a fantastic image of the transparent Hershey candy kiss (it also reminds me of the head of a Mexican onion), the fellow staring with questionable intentions (I thought it was a young Marlon Brando at first) and the nice ripple effect of the dark water. Nice and eerie. You've come through again!
