Description

This is a Stag Beetle. Family Lucanudae. The males have the well developed mandibles, like this one. I suspect this fellow got caught in a political environment and wanted out. : ) ... walking around and hanging to a red, white and blue windsock, colorful but no place to go. It made for interesting color. Sorry, even with mild fill the beetle "face" is a bit dark. The windsock was placed against the nearby rock wall and in a few moments the beetle was on the rock, headed toward a more natural environment . Could any political environment be natural? Doubts from this corner. The woodsy floor will be much perferred by the Stag Beetle.

A splendid macro Tom. I can see all the detail in the face so I don't think it too dark .
