Description

22nd - 30th July is ' Save our Butterflies Week' here in the UK. Many species are in decline and some face extinction. This is one of our more familiar butterflies. Their range is expanding northward in recent years probably due to climate change. It is a familiar pattern with many European species moving northward as the climate changes. * 56 native species of butterfly in the UK * 4 Species have become extinct since 1800 * 3 Species are regular migrants to the UK A larger image can be viewed by clicking on the one above. Many thanks for viewing and any comments. Richard.

What a beautiful peacock-butterfly!!! They seem to be in hiding over here untill august. I havent seen one yet this summer but i know that in a month or so they will be all over the place. They are by far the most beautiful butterflies we get here. And your photo is topnotch as always. And id like to compliment you on your prior upload as well. I just thought that one was perfect. Technically speaking and artistically. Well done Sire!!! Have a wonderful sunday! #:O)

This is a beautiful image of the peacock.. which indeed has become more common, at least in our region. I see them every day now and it has become the most common butty where I live.

Super capture of one of our more familiar Butterflies. It is such a pity that so many of our insects, birds and plant life have been in decline over the years. Thank You for sharing your beautiful images with us.
