Description

AloooooooHa! My guide for the day Errol aka Sharky, took me for a ride to the back side of Waipio Valley to see Hi'ilawe Falls. While on the one lane road we came to a stream that crossed the road. It was probably 2-3 at the deepest but Errol decided against crossing it. I found this a perfect opportunity to jump out and get a few shots of this stream that turns into a river. I jumped up on a flat rock that could just hold the tripod and myself with little room to move. But I figured as long as I didn't move I could get some shots off and be done with it. Needless to say in the excitement of the moment I stepped back, and slipped off the rock into the stream. Still holding the tripod with the camera attached I fell back into the stream but managed to hold the camera out of the water. My hero Sharky grabbed the tripod and pulled my camera to safety, while I pulled my self out of the stream. I suffered a severely bruised ego..Sharky had a good laugh, and how could I blame him? This ones for you buddy, for saving the day...I'm sure my camera would hate scuba diving in a stream. Many thanks for your thoughtful comments on my previous images, and have a great weekend everyone! Aloha!

Everything happed so fast and spontaneous that I automatically reached for the camera and tripod. It was just a reaction I tell you. I didn't mean to let you fall in the river (lol)... I definitely learned something on this trip that I should always have my camera ready and prepared to capture occasions like this. Are you sure the camera didn't clic on the sky? lol This is a beautiful capture here and will be remembered forever. Forever and Forever... Aloha

I really like what you have done with the water. The story is very funny but I am glad the camera and yourself escaped unharmed. I can see it all in my mind.

Ah, the adventures of a photographer! Glad you weren't injured and your camera got rescued. A most beautiful capture. The water looks like silk.

Your POV gives the water a mercurial look, and the depth of color enhances the tranquility of the scene. Sharky gets extra points for the save over and beyond the location scouting. Kudos to both of you!

Nice laughs! Sharky sure knew what was most important!! It's da camera!!! If I ever go out with Sharky and I fall into a situation like that at least I know the shot will get back to civilization even if I don't make it. LOL By the way, great shot. That water looks so surreal my mind is still saying he must have "photoshoped" it. But I know you didn't

You are lucky: a slice of buttered bread, when dropped, will always land butter-side down, and a photographer - camera down. Anyway, the shot is awesam!!

What a gorgeous shot! The time exposer is perfect to turn the glancing light silver. Impressive work! I got a chuckle out of your intro. Lori and I usually take a spill at least once each trip and return with bruises and scrapes. Just goes with the territory around wet, slippery waterfalls and rocks. A wonderful, wonderful, photo, Dave!

LMAO!What a cute story! And LOL at Errol rushing to grab your cam...Tough choice, but I'm guessing he was thinking you are more 'watertight' than the cam, lol.Ooh,you reminded me of a story when you mentioned your bruised ego.Wanna hear mine? No?Well I'll tell ya anyway, lol.Hubby and I read about this secluded beach in St.Bart's in Travel/Holiday magazine..so we decided to go there. It sounded so romantic. So we trekked there and lo and behold! It was actually secluded!Yay!No one was there for miles! How lovely! So after I covered myself in oil and started to bake,I decided to go for a nice little bathe in the lovely water. But ummmm...noooo...there was a reason it was secluded.Hello! The undertow was FIERCE!In barely thigh-high water I got sucked under and started to swirl like a tornado.Somehow...somehow...I managed to get to shore. And let me tell you,it wasn't pretty, lol.Even tho my bathing suit was half gone,I was covered in seaweed from head to toe, like some weird sci-fi she-creature,lol.And where was my dear sweet hubby? On the shore,of course...laughing his butt off, thank you very much.Sigh...Okay.I'm done now,lol....By the way...this shot is great,lol.Mahalo,buddy.-M :^)
