I am broken.
I have pleaded with her to leave him, to get the f#ck out of there before it's too late. Each time I look into her hollow eyes I see my own mothers reflection and I break. I don't understand, what hold does that bastard have that cripples such a vibrant woman? She can't love him that much, they don't have kids - thank God - so why does she stay around? She orders her whole day around the threat of violence, never knowing what might set it off.
I am sicken'd by my gender, WE are the very thing we have conditioned women to fear. We are responsible for over 99% of all the rapes and assaults, yet we call rape and domestic abuse a WOMEN'S ISSUE - and all you guys reading this saying - Wait, I'm not like that! I'm a good guy! - you're the same ones that turn up the volume when the shouting starts next door.
Look around you and see the survivors, they are your sister, your mother, your girlfriend, even your own wife. Don't think of male violence as a women's issue - everything that affects women and the girls we care for affect us.
Our lives are intertwined.

I am always interested in your write ups. This one is especially good, probably because Im a girl and I am aware of the problem of it, and am also affected. I shared this piece with another artist on rendo and he enjoyed it as much as I did. I hope you feel better soon, but again, very beautiful work :-)

Powerful message and painting yo! Here is one answer: You love, you hope, you wait for that moment when somthing might work to change the situation. One day your find yourself immobilized by depression and/or PTSD, you are a deer in the headlights, you wait some more... But, sometimes, there is a happy ending if the abuser gets help.
