A Tiger for Mea (Photoshop) www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php

I have been drawing since I was 11, some 33 years ago.
My 6th grade teacher, Mr. Knoss, was a great artist and I greatly admired his illustrations. He encouraged me to pursue my artistic interests at a crucial time in my development.
My High School art teacher "Vern", was also a great influence. He always challenged me to try different things.
I was lucky that my parents were very supportive of my interest in art. I studied at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1986-1990). Where I was humbled by many great artists that were far more talented than I. There it was that I rounded out my fine art skills, and then chose to major in Media Arts. Studied film, video and sound. Learned all the skills needed to shoot, direct, edit those mediums.
While pursuing a Media Arts major, I discovered computer graphics, still in it's infancy. This is where I came to an Epiphany. Here was a new medium, that incorporated everything I had previously learned into one new medium. Not only that, but it had new dimensions, interactivity, feedback, randomness, AI. I was hooked.
The next 17 years I learned and grew with the industry. Learning everything from how to create and manipulate digital imagery and create animations, to interface design and interactive authoring. My day job is an Information Architect, a fancy term for software interface design.
A few years back, my wife and I hit on some difficult times (As many people do) and it was during a very dark time in our lives that I discovered what became Renderosity, Initially I posted work, merely as a way to get myself back into the discipline of making new art.
I was delighted to find a world-wide community of talented artists, exchanging ideas and art!! I was thrilled! I have learned so much from you, and your art has brightened up my world. I am lucky to have made some great friends here, and I aim to do tributes to all of you!

Yeah, meekats are interesting, I think they should of named "room" meerkat observation cyclinder! Interesting shot, and seeing a little guy in the back is like icing on the cake!

I thought for a moment, before I read your words, that the front image of the rear view of the lady had been put into a glass tube and was going to descend below the surface when I clicked to enlarge. I never know quite what to expect with your fun images. This is excellent though. Looks like you have a good time.

Hopalong
A subtle, brilliant image--dominated progressively by: (1) silhouette and capsule girl (duet); (2) silhouette, capsule girl and meerkat (triangle horizontally viewed, matching the perspective lines); (3) silhouette, capsule girl, meerkat, fellow in the far background (trapezoid and/or the mark of Zorro); (4) the preceding plus the Third Man, who is the photographer (fifth dimension)--and this is just scratching the surface...a still image that moves and lives in its viewing and in one's pondering....
idiot_sphinx
Guess she wanted to be part of the IN crowd ...Hehehehe... Wonderful capture !! I will have to go see this zoo in the near future, looks like fun :) Great capture and oh yeah , Hopalong's observance is killer too !!~FUNTASTIC~!!

LOL! I guess all spieces evolve after all. Cool idea with the tunnel. Did they have one that popped up in the lions pit as well? #:O)
Loloe
Funny and nice shot! cool idea indeed! Bravo!!!
Mea
We had a setup like that at our zoo for a temporary exhibit, except it had snakes in it. Nice shot, clever idea. :)

By putting animals on display, we are also showing something about ourselves. I live these kind of shots -- "who's in the cage" -- and this one is filled with humor. Great timing and looks like a neat zoo. I can't wait to see 2-6!
Digimon
Thanks gang! The Minnesota Zoo IS actually a very nice zoo! In every exhibit, there is a "Secret" place, where the animals can hide from visitors! So sometimes you go to see the animal, and they are nowhere to be seen. Maybe boring for us on ocassion, but it's nice that they have a privacy option.

Nice specimen...or was that speciwoman ? The Meerkat look's totally dumbfounded by the ascension of the plastic chicky on his front lawn...did I say lawn ? erm, sandpit ! kool capture Eric cheers

I like this a lot. the shiloutted observers in the forground really set the mood for this. Great shot.
lemonjim
never know where agent 13 will pop up!
Vladivar
Cool idea, I think it's fair that this little guy can sometimes become an observer too... And I'm sure he's seen a lot of weird species in there. Cool shot anyway. Thanks for sharing!
helix3d
What a cool idea. I would like to see one of those that pops up in the midst of a lion or tiger pen, or perhaps a bunch of goofy-ass raging monkeys of some sort (I hate monkeys). A fun picture. If I remember correctly, Meerkats are really cute little critters. AH-HA! I see one standing up on a rock over to the left.
robotalk
Thati s great !! what a great idea that tunnel is ..but 'wets be vewwy vewwy quiet ,we're hunting wabbits..heh heh heh..'
drivereightrules
Great shot. So good it almost looks posed. Looks like a Meerkat on the top left side of the capsule, on that rock next to the observer who is also on the left side of the capsule. Then again.... Really look forward to the series. Thank you for sharing.
Forevernyt
Meerkats are cool. Nice pic!

Awesome zoo, awesome capture! I agree with you about the critters getting a little privacy. That makes it even better when they come out to see the visitors! Plus that individual spot within the habitat is a great idea. Especially for view these cool little guys.
Margana
LOL What a great capture,Eric.Ya gotta be safely behind plexiglass when you are dealing with those deadly meerkats, lol!I love this.Especially the silhouetted figure who kind of looks like a crazy person, lol.I'm thinking s/he is the one that should be caged...or at least fined for that godawful hairdo. Thanks for sharing.Once again, you crack me up.Have a wonderful weekend,my friend.Oh and before I forget...I have air!Yay!...Except suddenly we have cool weather and don't need it,lol.-M -Who is no longer dripping and is searching for a light sweater, lol. :^)
CavalierLady
Extremely clever title and thumbnail! What a cool exhibition. Fun idea and fun photo!
