Description

An acrylic/Photoshop painting based on a photo from Apollo 17, the last US manned Moon mission. I don't know about anyone else, but I am excited that the Chinese are interested in exploring the Moon again--it's be nice to have human feet back out on another world. btw I really appreciate the comments--I haven't been able to read them and reply as fast as I'd like, and I'm going off to Worldcon Friday and won't be back until September--but I read and enjoy them all. They keep me going:-)

I agree with you: it's be nice to have human feet back out on another world. I was always facinated by space journeys. Hope I will live long enough to see first pictures of man on mars .-) By the way some arguments for space exploration: People say: "space exploration is expensive, there are so many problems unsolved on earth, why not spend the mony for that ?" But on the other hand most of the problems on earth are impossible to solve within our lifetime, so why not spend some money (a small fraction of what is spent on weappons) for exploring space? Maybe to gain insight in coherences in space can occasionally help problem solving on earth. Thanks for the nice picture, reminding the almost forgotten adventure of man on the moon (some freaks really think it did never happen :-) see: Conspiracy Theory -- Did we Land on the Moon? http://www.braeunig.us/space/hoax.htm).

Way WAY cool, Lynn---you know---in my dreams I too have walked on lands that are not our own...one day I hope that everyone has an opportunity to do it for real. This is great---the details are amazing and it does look like a photograph. :) Have fun!! Will talk to you when you get back!!!

Dynamic composition, Lynn, and subtle use of color. You've picked up on the coloration of lunar soil that was reported by the astronauts- and many have seen in person, in the returned samples, but the photographic process never adequatly picked up on the lunar surface (I suspect the sunlight was just too intense). Its a wonderfully evocative piece. Maybe just me, but I get a real sense of longing from it. I get the feeling we're looking at Cernan's last footprint on the moon being made. Wonderfully well done. Good luck at the WorldCon artshow!

You really have amazing painting skills and I agree, it would be nice to have human feet on the moon again. Even more exciting would be a manned missiion to Mars! Wish you a successful Worldcon!

I like this crop and interesting composition. It shows a little piece of the moon reality, but at the same time it carries a lot of meanimg. Outstanding work, L :)

Kool idea with the footprint leaving their mark, just had an idea of someone drawing their mark in the dirt, like joe was here written in the dirt. I know the U.S.A. has claimed a fair bit of the moon but it would be funny to see a little plot with claim flags all over it. Any tips on how to blend colours to get awsome dirt like that too ;) you not only got a wonderful colour blend but the look of harder and softer like dried crusty sand.
