Description

The Chess theme revisited, but now with bullets. "It was a single projectile charged with all the power of the universe. An incandescant column of smoke and flame as bright as ten thousand Suns rose in all its splendor.... It was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death which reduced to ashes the entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakras.... The corpses were so burned as to be unrecognizable. Their hair and nails fell out; pottery broke without apparent cause, and the birds turned white." (the Mahabharata, as quoted in "The Dragon's Triangle" by Charles Berlitz, 1989, describing a weapon the Agneya.) About the render: The power of the atom! I've always been impressed with physics. This is not any sort of political statement. I just like how Bryce does reflective surfaces and I made some metal textures I wanted to use; and I like how Bryce did the clouds. The explosion came from an earlier work I did two years ago, but hadn't finished it. This time I took the time to make the mushroom cloud look a bit more impressive than the original I had done. The kings have been modified from my original models. No postwork.

Great idea and wonderful work. The chess replaced by bullets, the render, the reflections - the all is just fantastic.

An excellent image! Though you've not intended it as a political statement, there is a lot of clever symbolism nonetheless. Great render, especially the mushroom cloud. Well done!
