Description

This is part of the underwing of a Blue (I'm not sure which kind of Blue it is - they are all very similar to each other). This is a very small butterfly (its wings span about 25mm) that live in the mountains around here. It was alive and well when this shot was made - but it took me a solid two hours of stalking to get close enough (it probably got tired of running away from me in the end:) A full-size view is HIGHLY recomended.

Outside of National Geographic, I have not seen anything like this! I'm glad I took your advice and looked at the full sized view. Your persistance certainly paid off in this magnificent shot! I am totally awed!
