Description

This is the head of the same butterfly that was in my previous upload, Wing detail. After spending two hours hunting it down I was pretty happy that it kept still long enough for me to get several usable pictures:) (In fact, the macro blitz seems to daze a lot of insects - if you first manage to get close enough to get off one shot, they will often be less aware/bothered by movement in their close vicinity for a while). I've done some reading since yesterday to try and determine what species this is, and I'm now pretty sure it is one (of several) variations of Idas Blue [Plebejus idas of the family Lycaenidae]. Full-size viewing is highly recommended!

How do you do a macro with that much detail? Astonishing all the stuff around us that normally we can't see.
