Description

Hello all!! Here is a shot taken last week in Michigan at the St. Joe harbor! It's where my Grandfather used to dock his boat in the 1950's. My uncle had his yacht nearby in the 1970's! My mother pointed to where her boat used to be and I snapped this shot with my nikon 7900 a half hour before sunset. In the background there is a large grand hotel that has been around since my Mom was a child. Next to it is a bandstand where they have free summer concerts in the park. It is such a dreamy little town full of some of the warmest people I have ever met, a far cry from LA!! My mother told me that she and her best friend (who still is close to my Mom and lives there now) in the 50's would take that boat out all summer in the 50s and spend countless hours on it. Sometimes they would go way out past where they thought no one could see them and skinny dip! ...only to find later that the lifegaurds sure appreciated it as they had high powered binoculars and watched them there --haha!! I feel somehow connected to the story and the place as I have heard it my entire life . . . so standing there I appreciated it so much. The 50's sure were a different world. I dunno if I would allow my teenage girls to go out on a boat alone everyday (especially if I knew someone was waching them jump off those boats naked!!...) LOL!! I still haven't even begun to look at my shots from the trip. I still need to go through many pictures and get many sent to me. It's easier I think when you just upload from your cam daily than to come home from three weeks and search through a sea of pictures . We have been house hunting here -so too much to do with a family of five to take care of...oh my goodness=I need more hours in the day!!...then pretty soon I will have a new camera to learn too...one day at a time I tell myself LOL!! Thanks for all your time and comments! love to you all!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers :O) !! ♥

I do not know Michigan at all, even not by the books or films. This setting sun gives even to the white boats paces of hull in mahogany tree. How by memories can move a photographer, when it makes a visit in this area, and that it re-examines to ravel the childhood of her parents, his family, of it also, and what a joy has it to make known this place of ' perinage', whose memories in stereotypes and are well made so skilful! At the bottom of the stereotype, this old establishment resembling an English castle does not let predict such rafins cultural activities. Thank you Kimarie to let to us admire a small corner of your paradise!!!

What a great capture - and I love how the masts sort of grid all of the background, and how the boats reflects off the water. Awesome - as usual. You were kind enough to pay my gallery "redheadgrrl" a visit, and as you can perhaps tell, I'm also part of a duo starting up a photography gallery "pol_redheadgrrl" - very early days yet with that though. :-)
