Working as a guard at the Penthesilea DevLabs is money for old rope. Nobody has ever tried to break in illegally. Alice Baldwin is far from sure that the contents of the lab even justify a guard. Still, she's not complaining. She prefers the daytime-shifts, but she can cope with the night-shifts, as long as she is on with her best friend, Lucy Cavalli. They can while away the hours, happily nattering away, occasionally checking that the perimeter is intact. They have no idea what, in particular, they are guarding, although Alice's employers might be alarmed to find that she has taken (in the night-shifts) to using their most prized piece of equipment as a convenient seat. Alice herself adores Lucy, but she does just wish that Lucy could find a prop other than her raygun with which to emphasize her remarks. Their guns are set to stun, obviously, but even a stunray will fry equipment as sensitive as that in the lab. Lucy has occasionally sent an unintentional ray into the ceiling. So far, she has never damaged anything expensive. Alice is amazed that no-one has queried the small dents in the permacrete ceiling, but all those boffins seem to wear glasses and, maybe, the lenses aren't strong enough. The funny thing is that the lab's owners don't see what Alice and Lucy get up to, because they consider a standard holocam set-up to be a security breach. I love discovering details in Stonemason's brilliant creations. My favourite is still the seahorse, but I do like the XXXXXL-sized hand in this scene, too.
