Description

Koi in a moment of frenzy at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, located on the north campus of California State University Long Beach. I didn't know what to call this at first, so many titles came to mind. These fish are really spectacular and people friendly. Their behavior in this case was inexplicable to me, especially since there was no food involved. A hot female? A ten dollar bill someone dropped?

So many titles came to mind? Oooh...i do belive i found myself a title-consultant, lol. I absolutely suck at figuring out titles for my uploads....thats why im gonna milk my Lofoten-series as much as possible....so easy just changing the number, lol. Another beautiful shot of these beautiful fishes....are they eatable i wonder? Have a great one! #:O)

When they see a person they probably assume they are going to be fed so they put on a good show....so many gorgeous colors in the mix here.

Sorry, Terrypom, not in this case. There are folks leaning over the lake all the time and the koi don't behave like that unless there is food actually in the water. The fish are disciplined and well behaved even when you have the food in your hand and offering it to them.

It's your camera lens, there attracted to that. That golden one with the curved back, halfway out the water, looks like it's gonna jump up and smack your lens. Careful buddy, hate to see you damaging a lens, whilst trying to wipe off fish slime. Interesting shot, there is obviously something going on, and the colors are soo nice. Nice work!!!

Sorry, earthman236, agree all you want, but the fish I photographed and studied -- and I was there for hours -- are not your fish. Only one fish in the whole lot was begging. When these particular koi want food from you they stop swimming around and politely stick their snout up at you.

Koi are wonderful fish! We've had a few over the years. This is a wonderful action packed photo. Perhaps they knew there was this internationally known photographer getting ready to take this shot, and they were all jockeying for a good position!

A very colourful display, great to watch the fish do what they do best.
