Still messing around with the Z-Brush demo to see what I can come up with.
Made this hand, it's a bit rough, but I thought I'd share.
I still need to learn a lot more skills before I can really start using this program without fumbling through.
Hopefully I'll get a decent level of detail on my next project and then go onto actually texturing stuff, the things Z-Brush was designed for!

Wow. Long ago I messed with the 1.5 demo, but I sorta gave up. Man that's amazing. I think you got the shape, finger separatio, and especially the palm of the hand perfect. The fingers seem a bit weird on the tips, but as you said it's a bit rough. I admire this, keep going!

Very good. Here are some tips for you: Watch the thumb position, looks too primate right now(too high on the hand). Rough in the proper proportions at level one.Once you are happy with the way it looks then subdivide. Use the move tool at the top of the menu to tweak finger positions and thickness of the hand. Once you start to use the move tool you won't know what you did before you discovered it. Set mouse stroke to level 4 at the top of the menu, results in smoother sculpting. Under Transf/modifiers turn accurate curve mode on and adjust the falloff of your brush. hotkey "x" turns on x symmetry. now you can sculpt both sides of a model at once. Look in your manual at deformations/resymmetry functions, you need to know this. Keep it up,you are a natural at it./Odhinn

When I did this hand, I didn't know how to mask or use inflate, pinch or anything really. I'm getting better each and every time I use this program, which probably says more about the learning curve of ZBrush, rather than any natural ability on my behalf. It's a bit tricky to get into as I can't save the tools I'm working with, making every model I work on a one session wonder. I'll try the accurate curve mode and deformations now that I know what I'm doing. With the thumb, if you mean that the thumb is pulled around to far (close to the back of the hand) then yeah, I agree. I tried to fix it but I didn't know how to do such a widespread move operation. Now, I'd just mask, go back to a lower resolution and move the points there, easy. That would also be a good way to fix that chunky square looking thumb pad. Thanks for the feedback guys.
