Description

This part of Ireland was considered to be the spiritual home of Louis MacNeice 1907 -1963 my favourite Poet. His father was born in this part of Ireland, and much of his career success was due to a generous lady who admired his work who came from the region. In my recent trip to Ireland it was a place I had to visit.. Perhaps for me his greatest poem "Prayer before Birth", written long before the troubles of today I find so strangely prophetic it beggars belief..

What a splendid vista. Could it be what the poet had in mind when he wrote the words: I am not yet born; provide me With water to dandle me, grass to grow for me, trees to talk to me, sky to sing to me, ...

What a sublime location. I wonder who owns the little house which appears to be abandoned. For sale perhaps? What a dream.

How very serenly beautiful. I would love to see Ireland one day. Besides their love of poetry, they have some great music, which I enjoy often.

Wonderful place ! I've read nothing about this poet, but I'm really curious to discover him after what you tell us. I could easily imagine how it must be an inspiration to stay in a so wild place, in perfect harmony with the Nature, alone, perfect for written ! Ireland for shure will be one of my next trip. I like this enormous and pure cloud over the hill, pure poetry ! Thank you Danny. Have a nice Sunday. Hugs
