Description

Okay, this one is really a macro. I don't know what kind of beetle this is but it sure is a beauty -- I saw a similar one a couple months ago near the car but couldn't get a decent shot (I left that one for mom, she takes good photos too). Somewhat more recently I saw another one, or possibly the same one, on a plant in mom's garden and was able to get a pretty decent macro. Info on this beetle would be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance. 'Bye!

Insects are definitely not my fav....but this one looks quite friendly....presented from a different perspective, interesting..... I am not sure what kind beetle is this one , there maybe as many as 280,000 kinds of beetles. In Egypt, the scarab, or sacred beetle, had great significance. It came to be associated with the sun and its movement across the sky. The scarab thus came to be a symbol for solar deities and for new life. The beetle goes through a tremendous metamorphosis from the grub stage to the winged. In its winged stage, the front set of wings are thickened into hardcovers which fold and protect the soft underside. Hugs, Tofi
