Description

This is an altocumulus cloud formation over Southern California, in early December 2005. No rain developed from this. It is often referred to as a "mackerel sky" because it resembles markings found on a mackerel, or a "buttermilk sky" because it resembles curdled milk.

Lovely sky but it wouldn't be as good without the trees on either side. Good balance and good photo.

What a surreal looking sky. We dont get to see that many skies with such cloudformations here. And since im a cloud-person, i really love this shot. Its fascinating. Have a great one! #:o)

Odd looking sky alright, but I think it's the trees that add the depth. Nice one!
