Description
This is an altocumulus cloud formation over Southern California, in early December 2005. No rain developed from this.
It is often referred to as a "mackerel sky" because it resembles markings found on a mackerel, or a "buttermilk sky" because it resembles curdled milk.

Lovely sky but it wouldn't be as good without the trees on either side. Good balance and good photo.

that sky yells to be photo. this is a good shot with the trees in it to give it balance

What a surreal looking sky. We dont get to see that many skies with such cloudformations here. And since im a cloud-person, i really love this shot. Its fascinating. Have a great one! #:o)

Odd looking sky alright, but I think it's the trees that add the depth. Nice one!
