This Starbug's role is to function as a shuttle craft exploring planets and moons....to boldly go where no human has gone before. It is one of various vehicles operating from a mother ship.

Pakled, it's very possible it was used in Red Dwarf. I never saw or heard of the film so I can't say.

Well, I'll be DAD GUMMED! I logged onto the Red Dwarf website, as suggested by AeroJett, and found a myriad of neat spaceship models, including the elegant original of Starbug. A lot more stuff on it than the Renderosity model. Thanks a ton to AeroJett and Pakled for the information!
