Description
Storms have always fascinated me...so, when a storm front approached a few nights ago I just had to take a "crack" at getting some lightning shots. In total, I managed to get 57 shots in before the bolts got a little too close, the wind picked up and the rain began to pelt down. Of those 57, only 24 had any lightning visible in the frame. Of those 24, only 13 had visible bolts, the rest were "sheet" lightning. Of those 13 bolts, only 2 or 3 may be gallery worthy...this is one of those.
Some non-technical tips for those wishing to give this a try;
1)Set up your cam/tripod and cam settings indoors...remember,it's dark outside!
2)When you do go out to set up, take a flashlight...remember,it's dark outside!
3)Ensure you stay close to some suitable shelter...I was 100m from the house so it made for an interesting run in the rain and darkness with cam/tripod/flashlight in hand.
4)Do NOT use a tree as suitable shelter!!!!
5)If you feel your hair standing on end....that means that lightning may soon take a "shine" to you......RUN like hell!
All joking aside, storms are very dangerous...Please be very very careful when outdoors taking storm shots.

This is a wonderful capture. Even if you had only gotten this one, it would have been worth your effort.

Wonderful and electric shot ! I've never tried to make some, but I'm always impressed when I see a shot as this one. So neat and perfect timing.
