Description

This is from a trip I made in late August to a mountain called Bispen (the Bishop). This peak is among the most accessible of the "real" mountains in the region (on the west coast of Norway), due to Trollstigen, a road that winds its way up from 50m to about 1000m above sea level in the end of a narrow and steep valley. Once you're up there, on the top of Trollstigen, you have pretty easy access to several alpine mountains that surrounds the mountain pass where the road crosses over. On this particular trip, I had convinced a friend of mine (the girl in the picture) to join me. She had never been on any mountain even slightly resemling this one before, but it all went pretty smoothly all the same. After close to four hours total (of which one and a half is scrambling), we finally reached the top - and hopefully she didn't regret coming with me:) The view up there is magnificent, as the summit is next to a 400m near vertical drop, and, if you turn 90 degrees, you have a 1000m near vertical drop to the valley below... She's just taking a picture as I take mine - a bit apprehensive about going close to the edge while looking through the viewfinder (as am I...), but as you can see, the surroundings are absolutely worth it.

I had to look twice to se if it was a painting or real life, all that convinced me was the fellow photographer inthe foreground. Cheers,

Brilliant shot. It can be unnerving taking pictures when the exposure your faced with has nothing to do with F-stops! Theres quite a few times I've been hit with verigo after taking a picture....funny how your mind works eh? Well done on IOtW, I missed this first time round, hope theres more in your gallery ...(off to check)

Wow - I can't believe what having a person in your shot does for it! Really adds to the "wish I was there" feeling! Awesome 3rds rule.

Lost for words. You have captured the scale & magnifence to perfection here. The tiny tarn (as we would call it in England, not sure what you call them!) draws the eye in wonderfully. I hope to visit here one day...............
