Description

Calling for Help: by Clio Aristocratos Clio raced to the door of her shop and screamed for help. Where was everyone? Someone had to go get the magistrate. Someone needed to get a doctor. Clio sank down on the step to her shop trying to keep from fainting. What she had seen was seered into her brain. There sprawled on top of the bundles she had piled up from the trip, there was a body. She had touched the hand tenatively, but knew that it was a corpse. Sticking out of the back was her new tapestry bobbin. Who was the victim? What had happened? How could she have slept through this disaster? Suddenly all around her were people who came running in response to her screams. She managed to pull the door shut behind her to keep everyone out. They didn't need to see what she had seen. "Please," she gasped. "Get Elgon! There has been a disaster" That was all she could get out. After some discussion, the group decided to send young Hermes to find the Magistrate. Clio remained crouched on the step while the group around her argued whether or not she needed more air or if they should stay close to her. One of her more thoughtful neighbors brought some watered wine for her to sip. What in the world had taken place in her shop while she was sleeping? ***************************************** This story is an effort between several writers of our Athens Novel at PanHistoria. The main characters and writers of this story are Clio Aristocratos, (written by- herself) and Elgon Agis (written by- myself) The story started out to create a background past for Clio, and just developed into a life of it
