Description
Meet Nerys Nymei, would-be Captain of Royal Guards of the Avariel city-state of Myrravin, the first female proposed for that role.
When an evil dragon threatens an Avariel city, there is only one solution: a full squadron of warriors is dispatched to attack him with their wrist crossbows and glass swords. Sometimes they succeed in driving him away, but always with heavy casualties.
But Avariel songs and traditions speak of another way of dealing with these powerful foes. A single warrior, sneaking on the dragon from his blind spot, could manage to pierce his scales where they are weakest, at the base of his neck, striking his nerve centers with two blades at the same time and killing him instantly. It was called "Golthi Kindaal", the Death From Above.
But dragons are not prone to be caught on surprise and, needless to say, this almost legendary technique usually ended up in a suicide. It has never been attempted in the last three centuries.
Until now...
