Description
Surveying the Crime Scene: by Clare
Daphne! Come with me! We need to have a sniff around before all those feet trample over important smells.
But Clare! I can't leave Clio!
Yes you can. Her friends are with her. You can be more help to her this way.
We slipped around the back and leapt in through the always open kitchen window. We could smell sickly sweet odor of death in the shop, even from here. We split up in order to cover everything more quickly, carefully sniffing our way into the shop, making mental notes of familiar and unfamiliar scents. The body was lying face down over Clio's unpacked bundles from our trip. The smell of death obscured the normal scent of whoever it was there. We both stared and then split up again, circling the mess in ever widening rings, our noses to the floor.
I saw Daphne pause in puzzlement over something she'd found on the floor. I was about to ask her what she'd found when we heard men's footsteps.
Quick Daphne! Bat whatever you've found to a hiding place. Here come the police!
I darted under the nearest low chest. I wanted to watch.
