Description

Satisfied: by Cleon Cleon had gotten up early and talked to the man who had filled in for him while he was gone. His replacement was ready to go back to his life of retirement, but agreed to finish the jobs scheduled for today so that Cleon could spend time notifying everyone that he was back. He quickly checked the records and found that while the business hadn't grown while he was absent, it had remained steady. His hunger drove him to the Agora where he picked up some bread and cheese and began to remake his contacts. There were lots of questions for him about the trip and about Egypt. Most people had never left Attica let alone ventured across the great Sea. Soon he had a number of jobs lined up for the days to come. He waved to Makaria and Psyche who were also in the market early stocking up on food for the Aristophanes family. They didn't seem to see him, so he moved on. Suddenly there was a buzz in the Agora. It was obvious that some new piece of gossip was making its rounds. He didn't normally listen to gossip, but the words 'dead body' caught his ear. "Hey carter," one fishmonger's wife called to him. "Do you know that weaver lady? Kleios or Kleian or.." 'Do you mean Clio?" Cleon stopped and looked at the slovenly speaker. "Yeah, that one. Word is she has just killed someone." the fishmonger's wife cackled. Cleon turned and raced towards Clio's shop. He couldn't see her, but he could see crowds of people around her. Was that Zoe making her way through the crowd? That tall man he could only see from the back splitting the crowd and forcing them back could only be Elgon. What had happened here? ********************************************************* This story is an effort between several writers of our Athens Novel at PanHistoria. The main characters and writers of this story are Clio Aristocratos, (written by- herself) and Elgon Agis (written by- myself) The story started out to create a background past for Clio, and just developed into a life of it
