Description

Illustration created to accompany a tutorial in Imagine FX magazine issue 10. The image depicts a scene from Ray Bradbury's 'Sound of Thunder' short story, in which a company offers time travel safaris, allowing 'intrepid' hunters to go back and bag a T-Rex etc. However, a levitating walkway is constructed to prevent any other uneccesary contact with the prehistoric environment, which could have catastrophic consequences further down the timeline. Unfortunately the paying client panics and steps off the walkway, only to crush a unique and ancient butterfly of the time... Cinema 4D 9.6 and interPoser Pro (beta at the time) Cheers Adam :)

Excellent scene. Too bad the visual effects for the film version (w/Ben Kingsley) of this location weren't as good as your scene here.

Really cool image! Saw the movie, too - wasn't THAT bad - I've seen much worse. I was sorry to see you didn't have a tut in the last issue of ImagineFX - looking forward to the next one!

Very well done! I agree, the movie was a big disappointment, and compared with your work here, the film looks a bit sad.

cool! I'm very familiar with this novel. The Bradbury novel is great, the "Sound of thunder" episode of the Twillight Zone is OK but the movie that was based on this novel is terrible..

Great novel and great illustration! I remember an episode of The Simpsons when Homer travels back in time and goes berserk, smacking every creature he can find... :)

Stunning work! The balance of elements work perfectly. Nothing looks out of place or "pasted" in as some images can. You do wonderful work.
