Description

Posted this under Bryce since that's what I rendered it in... The ship is modeled after the Titanic and just a bit of the Lusitania. I stayed as true to the design as possible with the resources I could find. Model made in Rhino 2.0. Textures and post prod. work in Photoshop CS. Rendered in Bryce 5.0 Entire project took about 32 hours, much of which was spent fiddling with the hull. By far the most ambitious model I have ever created and my fidst ship.

I love the model. The smoke is very well done for post production, and the water texture is fabulous. I wasn't sure if you intended her to look at rest though as if posing, so fantastic job.

I think a large bow wave would make this a more dynamic render. Check the paintings of the leading authority/artists of the great liners era, Ken Marschall. Even though he paints traditionally, he researches EVERYTHING about these ships. Your render is very much like his views on canvas. His work has been the basis for many of the dramatic scenes in James Cameron's TITANIC. Also, check out James A. Flood. You can find examples of Flood's work at: www.scrimshawgallery.com, Paintings and Prints section. And just Google/images Marschall's name...

An excellent image but it was generally the house flag that was/is flown from the forepeek. The National flag - in the this case the red duster (British merchant flag) should be flown from the stern. I agree about the bow wave, although a small one would be sufficient in these waters. Good effort all round. 5

Magnificent water, superb smoke. I also believe a bow wake could take this image to stardom.
