------------- Famous Blades - Lolnivelve
When Mellikan Lolnivog left the mortal realm, it was not to die and pass her soul on to some elven God. She was the first of the so-called Drovik, the progenitor of the dark elven race, the mother of her kind. And as such, she left behind children to follow in her mortal path. What she didn't tell any of them was that she would consume them upon their deaths, and thus feed her growing God-hood. Mellikan Lolnivog became Lolth, the Spider Queen of the Drow.
But to her family, to her people, she left a legacy, a powerful sword forged by her enslaved Lich Lord, the mighty Kaleal S'rryth. That sword was called Lolnivelve, or simply, Lolth's Sword in the ancient Drow tongue. And it became a symbol of the Queen of the Drow, the daughter's of Mellikan, and followed her lineage through the millennia to the last of her line, Mellikan VII. When Mellikan VII was killed within her volcanic fortress in the city of Lolnivog during Mollasar's rebellion, the sword was lost to the forces of the Dark Lady, a mysterious Drow noble that ruled in the Drow sector of Gust. Following the revolution and the final defeat of Lolth, the sword disappeared. With Lolth's death in the Abyss, many thought the sword destroyed with her. That was not the case. For Lolth had poured part of her very soul into the sword, and in so doing, there was hope for her resurrection if the sword could be found and returned to the hands of her worshippers.
And that is precisely what happened. The Dark Lady traded the sword, inert and useless, to the last of the Princesses of the Blacklighter clan, the half-sisters of Vorhing the Arch-Necromancer. Zarra Mingamya Blacklighter had escaped Mollasar's purge and journeyed to the surface, where, in the darkness of Mount Drovmyr in Carellon, she forged an alliance with House Belabra of the Splinter Kingdom, until then unknown to the world. With the High Witch of the Coven of the Spider, Eclavdra Cormreal, the three hatched the plot to resurrect Lolth and succeeded. Zarra, however, would never see the fruits of her treachery. Eclavdra escaped the retribution of the Silver Gryphon and took the sword with her to the Splinter Kingdom, where Shanzilla Belabra, eldest daughter of the Matron, was being raised from the dead and given a new lease on life. As a powerful warrior, Lolnivelve went to her.
In the challenge between Lolth and Treallar's champions, many years later, Shanzilla used the sword against Amanda Hayes. When Shanzilla was defeated, the Silver Gryphon won their freedom from the Splinter Kingdom. When they returned a few years later to bring down House Belabra and kill Lolth once and for all, there was no sign of the sword. Thirty years later, rumor has it that the last surviving unrepentant noble of the old Splinter Kingdom, Tarantella Belabra has amassed a great deal of the old Drow magics. Could the sword of Lolth be within her treasury? Could the sword still possess some measure of its legendary evil? We shall see.
