Description

A Flowstorm builds over the Watching Isle- raw magic triggers a pyrotechnic display that makes it dangerous to even be a spell user. Let alone cast a spell.... My first serious attempt with Bryce 5.0. I'm going to export the various objects, then texture and render them in my more usual Imagine For Windows 2.19. (I'm more au fait with Imagine's procedural textures than the system in Bryce....) Be interested to see if I can duplicate the storm effect with Imagine's limited sky and volumetric effects.

Hi, Steeleyes101, The colours come from an inverted cone with one of the volumetric materials added (I can't remember off-hand which one I used- I think it was the Crab Nebula.) I then played with the scale, base density, Edge Softness and Quality/Speed. To increase the apparent number of colours, I added three radial lightsources, and moved them around a bit so that they were within the volumetric mass of the sphere. They were made shadow casting and the colours were set to Bright Green, Bright Pink and Purple, with a Squared falloff. These then modified the apparent colours in the volumetric cone. These also affected slightly, the colouring of the land- notice how green the grass appears on the plateau. As for the sky itself, that was essentially just randomised until I found something that I liked, and then I set it to night, repositioned the moon, and played with the colours a bit. It would be nice to say that the end result was played for a got- but, in fact it was more an accident!
