Description

The 210 was Chevrolet's intermediate series, not as dressed up as the Bel Air but not as bereft as the 150. But in 1956 even the 150 was flashy in its own restrained way. The model displays one of the 2-tone treatments (the other was roof one color, body seond color) in India Ivory and Pinecrest Green. Thanks for watching.

like the 56 I was born in 57 but I really like the grill of the 56 better, Amazing render color is perfect!

There is a bit of v in the center of the hood and grille needed. This is a bit too much like the 55. But let's not pick at it. Overall it shows how highlights in a photo can be misinterpretted convex for concave or even lost when a highlight hides a feature flattening it out as at the front of the fender and under the headlight. Merely posing the model exactly as the photo was would completely dismiss those. And.. not merely and but huzzah! look at the rear! and the top!! Then we see the subtle mark of a six with a shield and no chrome "Vee" ornament. Perhaps a mighty 235 "Blueflame" with 2-speed Powerglide. It observes the cardinal thrusts of car modelling that the ends are narrower than the passenger area and the top is tapered to a cap that is narrower than the doors. Usually from this era forward the nose including the bumper had a v shape as seen from the top, including trucks. As a Picasso of piastre you have succeeded. It is a cubist vehicle in waiting. I cannot wait to see the wheels disappear and no wings sprout nor any kind of reciprocating walking levers. The 56 is my favorite of the McKichan bodies.

Thanks all for the comments. deviney - the 56 Chevy grille was actually created for the 55, but Harley Earl insisted on the Ferrari-like element. So they saved the rejected option for next year's design. And it worked wonderfully. Tallpindo - don't worry, "V"-d front has been respected (and the 56 was the most "V"-d of the Tri-Chevys, i could not miss it. Tapering front and rear is mandatory from 40 on to early 60s, tapering gradually becoming more and more subtle. Tumblehome on the glasshouse, on the other hand, increased during this period. And i totally agree with your opinion about McKichan's (and Carl Renner's) opera-prima: the 56 Chevy is unmatched beauty. No chrome V here, "Blueflame" Chevys have the right to reign in the Hall Of Fame too. Please check the top view at http://www.smcars.net/forums/attachments/blueprints-donation/50087-chevrolet-210-1956-chevrolet-210-1956.jpg?d=1160517470 3DClassics - i used the 55 2-door sedan model to create this one, using a few parts from my 56 Sport Sedan, not as many as i intended as the Sport Sedan model is old and a bit innacurate; taillights and hood were redone completely. But it was a fairly quick job. GregerE - thanks for the comments, your work is simply awesome. huenersh - thanks! And as i did with the 55 Chevy, creating 5 models out of one, i am now doing a 4-door version of the 150 56. Will post it when done.

Thanks all again. 0m3g4- There are wheel wells in every model i make (the body is "closed" underneath too, even if not visible or detailed). The dark color of the ground may make it difficult to see them, though. The license plate reads "Belair56". Sorry for this, sometimes we let the most obvious errors go unnoticed.
