Description

Meanwhile in Daedalidai, things were moving smoothly. by Atheena Aristophanes       A799.jpg The suite of rooms that I had set aside for Clio had been thoroughly cleaned, and I had inspected it, with flowers placed around the room, a bowl of fruit and a pitcher of fresh water and a basin, as well as several scrolls which I thought she might be interested in reading, on the small table next to her bed. The little sitting room was very comfortable with a seating area and a small table, with another basket of fruit, and chairs next to the window which had a view of the sea, She would be close to the terrace, where we all usually took our breakfast. I reminded Metra, who would be her servant while she was here, that she must take good care of Clio, for she was an honored guest. Metra would sleep in the sitting room on a pallet because, though Clio would be well protected here and our security was the best, I didn't want her to feel alone. Waking up in a strange place is scary enough, but after what Clio had been through, I wanted her to feel safe. Besides, Metra needed to be close to see to Clio's needs. She was my friend, and I certainly did not intend treating her as a prisoner. The rooms were bright and cheery with colorful wall hangings that she had made herself. I wondered if she would remember. It had been some time ago. I thought she would be quite comfortable there; I certainly hoped she was. I knew she would be safe here and that was the most important thing. In the women's common area, I had set up my old loom with a supply of brightly colored threads and any other supplies I thought that she might need; even if she were not able to get to her shop, she could keep busy. I knew that was what she would want to do. I wasn't sure when Elgon would allow us to access her shop to get more supplies, so I intended to see that she was comfortable while she was here. I turned to Phyrne, smiling. "I think it is ready; Elgon should be bringing her shortly". I took a last look around the room. "Yes, it should do nicely." We left Clio's rooms and walked to Kritias' study, but he was not there. I stopped and asked one of the servants if she had seen him. She nodded, "Yes, Kyria, He left about awhile ago with the Kyrios Joey, Max, Xeo, and Skip. Said they had some protecting to do and for you not to worry. Kyrios Aristophanes said he left a note on his desk." We went back into his study and sure enough, there was the note: "Darling, Don't worry. I know you would fuss, but I agree with the boys that it might be best if we do go along to help guard Kyria Clio. I am sure there will be no problems, but just to be on the safe side, we are going. You can fuss at me when I return with Kyria Clio safely. Love, Your Kritias." I chuckled, and Phyrne turned to me astonished. "I thought that you would be furious." My eyes twinkled, "I just let them think that; they really enjoy thinking they are pulling one over on me...It wouldn't have been nearly as much fun if I had agreed. He is absolutely right, of course, and I will tell him so when they return. I will rest much easier knowing that they are there to help protect Clio, even though I know that Elgon is very capable fighter himself, but there is no telling what they might run into, considering the vicious mood of that mob today." We joined Thalia and Callista on the terrace where they were enjoying the soft breeze from the sea and sipping wine. I had a servant bring us both wine as well, Now, all we could do was wait so we might as well enjoy the evening.

Excellently written! The very first sentence is a run-on but does not distract from the well written prose...bravo to your crew ;)
