Description

Everytime I make an image with my moon, or a fairy, I'm haunted by an excellent artist named David Delamare. There's a fine line between being influenced and taking ideas. I did pen & ink drawing almost 30 years ago that are very much like his work. Or, maybe his work is like mine, because I don't think he's much over 30 years old. Anyway, I started this image and she was going to be playing a flute. I made the mistake of looking through his work, just in case I was remembering something sub-consciously. Found a flute player, but not with a moon, then a few pictures later, I see a mermaid with a harp, on a cresent moon. I had never seen that painting before, so I hadn't stolen the idea, but I have now. I liked the harp better, so I made one and used it. Also found a fairy riding a frog, similar to one I did, so maybe we're even. Either way, he deserves the plug. *** Made the moon, wings, stars and the harp, painted the dress. Font is called Elphinstone.

Great image - like it very much. I normally don't like fairy images that much, but she fit's so superbly with the moon!

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Almost every idea we've all ever had is recycled. :) Just looked up David Delamare and found the painting you mean, and your moon has much more character! Reminds me of some of the illustrations in the Nursery Rhyme books that were so popular when I was a child (a century ago - back in the 20th Century, lol)
