Description

Ok, now I realize this may be a weird title but hang in there with me for a moment... Every so often I cruise Renderosity and notice that there are new artists out there who may not make renders that belong in art books yet (very very few do art that well) but have improved a whole lot since they first started rendering. More often than not, those artists go completely unnoticed, their renders ignored and not a person offers any sort of comment, encouragement, constructive criticism and whatnot. This greatly irritates me! Those people work their butts off as much as those of us who can put an image together in an hour (including post work LOL) if not more! Art to me is not about being perfect but embodies the idea of growth. When you as an artist can grow from ideas and inspirations, than you are already there! An artist is NOT determined by how many comments one receives because frankly I have seen mediocre pieces (and yes, some of mine have been VERY mediocre as well) here with 40 plus comments and wondered "Now how come that guy on Page 4 got passed up and had 3 when his image is as least as nice as this one with 40 + comments..." We all know somewhere it's a popularity contest... It is VERY intimidating to someone new here to look through the Galleries and often some of them think "Why would I bother even posting here... there is no way I will ever be like ". So for the remainder of the year, I have decided that I will be giving out the "Golden Wacom" for those lesser known... those I feel have tried to make themselves a better artist by trying something new, by trying to improve themselves. This is an attempt to bring some attention to those lesser known in the Renderosity world! May they prosper and grow :) My first "Golden Wacom" goes to DarkPascual! His/Her Gallery is located here: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?user_id=459326 Please do take the time to check out their Gallery and offer a comment! Much Love, Mel PS: I have nothing but love to those better known, let me be clear about that, but let's help the new generations of artists, shall we?!

Really nice thought!I completly agree with you!!!...I must admit: I was one of them you are talking about!..now I can have 20 comments, but after one year where nobody seems to see me!..I thought to be invisible and it's not right..I can only say to them: go on, believe in what you do!It doesn't matter if you have 0 or 40 comments, do it because you like it!!!!

Awwww that is why I love you and we became friends, such a nice gesture :) I reacted to a similar comment you made in your gallery a while back and you came and commented in mine and gave me a chance... and confidence, I might add. But more than that, you trusted me with your newest character in the store at the time and gave Porcelain to me. Very sweet picture here once more! I tell you, you'll make me buy Flirty lol I love your contrasting colours, very bright, and that faerie dust coming out of the heart. Lovely!

Adorable pic! I absolutely agree with your sentiment. I try to spend at least an hour or two a week hunting down new artists who are trying new and wonderful things and offer a bit of encouragment. It is so easy to get discouraged when you have no feedback, I know this and I know it can kill a newbie. It almost killed me at first. Great idea, you have a kind and wonderful soul! I'm giving this pic a 5, but your inspiration is 10+

I agree and I have stop posting and deleted everything in my gallery...only a few things are left..and they will be deleted also just not got around to it. It is a "who knows who" and thats a shame, that isnt just for the gallery thats true for the market place also. You do not run across people in the "Poser World" who will take the time to help very often, you see alot of comments on how bad newbies are and they shouldnt even be able to post/submit. Good Luck on your new venture I hope you can get many new artist noticed!! This is a beautiful image btw

I love this beautiful fairy scene, but then all your work is gorgeous. I think this is a wonderful thing you are doing and so true, I myself feel the same way, every artist has something to offer as it is about expression more than popularity.

Totally on a Side note ;) It just dawned on me that not everyone knows what a Wacom is LOL (Yes, I remember a few years back i had to ask too LOL) So here is Wikipedia's explanation.. Wacom is the industry standard company for graphics tablets, headquartered in Otone, Saitama, Japan. It is one of the major graphics tablet producers today and is extremely popular with artists, graphic designers, architects and cartoonists. Wacom tablets are notable for their patented cordless, battery-free and pressure-sensitive pens. Some of their products feature the ability for a user to invert the pen and use it much as one would use an eraser on a regular pencil.

welp Mel for starters here I had just looked at these backgrounds when they came out and passed them up (for the sheer sake of pinching pennies only) I see from this image that was a mistake lol there awesome As for the sentiments on -ARTISTS- ART-CREATIVITY-TALENT- or actually the right to express oneself -drummmmmmmmmmm rollllllllllllllllllll YOU GO GIRL I am a firm beleiver that anyone with or without so called talent actually has talent somewhere for something -we all do - I think maybe alot of serching out whatever talent we have comes from having courage to step out of the box and try new things-rememeber drawing and running to show it off with that big grin and proud look -see what i did? establishing security in that is extremly important and it really doesnt change much with age -my mom used to say "how do you know you cant do that-did you try?" I think that your idea of encouraging one another is incredible (somewhat optomistic) but incredible you know this probably should have been a thread Mel theres no doubt you will generate alot of feelings with this so in brief thankyou for your kind kind heart and the caring of justice as far as your image goes this rocks the colors are wonderful and vibrant very very pretty

Mel, this is a fantastic idea. You are such a gem! I think this is a fantastic idea. When I first began here, I went and tried to comment on all images I came across. Its hard. But I try to get to new artists here and there now that I have gotten even to busy to render myself. You did a great thing here, and I hope to see more Golden Wacom's!

Well, I for one know exactly what you mean because I'm in fact one of the artists on here you get an average of 7 comments :P But anyway, it doesn't matter to me whether I get 10 or 2. What matters is that you are indeed a very kind and honourable artist!! I think the next person to get a "Golden Wacom" should go to the very ignored 2D artists!

I absolutely agree! Last year I posted what my first image and while obviously not up the par of many seasoned veterens I thought it wasn't bad. I was initially dismayed by the lack of response. It did take me a while to understand that you had to get known by posting comments on others and yes as you say, realise it is somewhat of a popularity contest!!! As an owner of a Graphic Design Studio and a veteren creative director with over 28 years in the business I can tell you that there are artists here that get very few comments that I would hire to do design in a heart beat! Very glad you did your post and made your commens. Truly a class move and fantastic artist!!! Wish there was a higher rating than 5 for times like these! Best regards, Rob

What a magnanimous gesture! And an adorable pic to go w/ it! Great job and "Here-here!" I hope to be one of these new artists in the near future and you've just inspired me immensely. Thank you!
