Description

You in the swamp and you hear a hissin sound. You know it not a snake. You do not see any movement around you. But you heard that sound one time in your live. A lone time ago when you went crabing on some island in the bay by the Gulf of Mexico. A big gator got between you and the boat and you was out of your mind. What to do? They can out run you and out swim you too lol. That gator have it mouth open and you looking down it mouth to it belly. You know to run in cirles for the gator would have a hard time to run that way and in zig-zags too. But then another boat comes up and a man starts to make funny sounds that I can not spell here guess it "gooh" sound but loud. The gator turns and goes into the water towards the man in the boat. Wow wonder what that sound the man made and you ask him as you getting into your boat. The man say it the mateing call for the gators. And I saw at lest 15 gators swimming to him lol. I heard that "goohing" sound all around and deep in the swamp yesterday; but I heard the "hissing' sound close to me so I got back into my truck but I took this shot before I did. Did not know if it would come out for the sun blinded me in the sky and in the water. I turn the camera setting all the way down to see it I could get the shot and I did. I could not see if I did but I did lol thanks for ever thing. I guess I could have put this in writeing but I like the shot and this is a true story happen about 20 years ago. When ou hear the hiss of a gator you never forget it. sorry for the long winded lol

excellent story and a very eerie capture of the swamp. I was out close to Dallas and stopped at some strip pits for some pictures when I seen a sign saying alligator habitat . I did not know it was there. they find gators once in a while in creeks and area lakes

Oh wow, the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON....I remember the movie well. Interesting and frightening story, my friend. That is a great photo of the swamp, what with the mood effect, silhouetted trees and brush and the reflection off the water.

Knowing you are short is a eery felling that begets later repetitions. The swamp is quiet after the feast but raucous with mating. Glad you were up to the challenge.

Too bad a beautiful view like this is ruined with the presence of alligators. Then again, maybe they serve some purpose out there. Be careful my friend! Fantastic shot! (:
