Description

This is one of the most stunning of our little birds less than 6 inches.. In Europe it is getting rare amd in the UK this is due to the extraction of too much water from Rivers, and the classic sort of habitat with the sort of earthen banks they need to make nests in. In the past high river lines and floods made these.. Earthen banks on water bodies are of crucial importance to kingfishers, because they nest in excavated holes. Rivers with bare, steep banks are indispensable, where holes can occur only on non-developed banks during floods.

If you got any closer you'd poke it off the stick with the end of your lens. Magnificent! Can't resist "favouritising" this....

OMG!!! he's so cute and very beautiful!!! I like very much this bird and his aspect... I don't know what you make for to look all your birds post but it's a real pleasure for my eyes. In my association protector animals i see a very nice project for to look the migration birds in south of spain, but I don't have acceptable lens for make a really beautiful and nice shots like you. Sometimes, and you know, I receive very "strange birds" in my area. I say "strange" because since 3 years i see diferent birds and I never see them before, like Codornices Africano (Crex egregia)I don't know the english name. Well, I know, the weather change the migration travel of all the nature animals... EXCELLENT post!!! Good day

Crytsal clear close up and excellent DOF. In your display the bird's pose creates the impression of being vulnerable and is very symbolic if read in conjunction with the accompanying text.
