Description

...not so much thematic variety, I'm afraid :) but there's a catch: I finally figured out how to use the "backlight" effect with bitmapped (Onyxtree, Xfrog) textures without having to make the objects one-sided, and thereby destroying the overall apperance. For me this is HUGE! Actually, if you do things "by the book" it can't be done, but I know now that Vue can be fooled into doing it :) I don't think I'll ever need to use procedural leaves again! Vue 5 Infinite render, 7 hrs. in "Superior", volumetric atmosphere with global ambience. All objects and texures by me (except the default Vue "Reeds"). Trees made with Onyxtree, with bitmapped textures. Postwork in Photoshop for colours/levels correction (and framing/signature, of course). Hope you like this - thanks in advance for any comments etc. you feel like leaving - they'll be very much appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars

I like it alot and know that I would never have the patience for a seven hour render. Wow. Well worth the time and effort it seems!

Thanks for your comments so far - so wonderful to have the attention of such great artists. For "dlk30341" - and everybody else: The "backlight effect" is found under the "effects" tab in the texture editor (together with "color reflected light (metallic)" and "color transmitted light" effects. The Vue basic plant foliage all use the "backlight" feature, which produces a semi-transluscent effect on the foliage when lit from behind (hence the term). It doesn't wotk on imported objects right away - just try it on e.g. some Xfrog models :) But - it can be done, as you can see. - Lars
