Description

First render with Bryce 6.0. It's not really an image in itself--these are two characters who'll be appearing in a much larger scene of about fourteen or so characters (someone tell Flak I'm gaining on him), four of whom are dressed and posed; however, I got sidetracked with the musicians, because as of yet, no one's put together the Slavic band package. The concertina was modeled in Carrara, replete with bones in the bellows for elasticity. For the balalaika, I borrowed the neck from the lute from the V3 Harem Dancer set, but since the balalaika only has three strings, not six, I had to chuck the frets, pegs, and tuning keys and make my own; these were constructed from extended primitives and assembled in Carrara. Then I exported the complete neck into Hexagon and fashioned the body (tesselation and vertex manipulation) and the strings (single polyline traced down the neck and frets, with added thickness to turn them into strings). The real purpose of the render is to display how the instruments turned out, and, in general, to post something to prove I haven't been lazying about (although I did knock off early last night to watch "The Black Dahlia"). I expect the main pic will take me another week to set up. Thanks for taking a gander. Credits: renapd's Dancers and Peasants, an extension of the eye-popping Cossacks package. Wonderful looking characters, great posing, excellent work on the modelling as well, it will be interesting to see if Bryce can handle 14 characters without dying like Vue :) superb first with 6 Aaron.

Excellent composition, lighting & realistic posing. I have to say, though, that after reading your description of the work that went into modeling the instruments, it doesn't really come across in this render. They look ok, but I don't see much detail in them. Maybe the dark lighting obscures the detail?

Wow!. This is an excellent render Aaron. You have captured the singing expressions perfectly and super work on the instruments. Thanks for all the info. I am still using Bryce 4 and I used it to make 25 plus characters/models to make a background for one of my earlier Daz studio Quest pics..the file size was about 290 megabyte and it handled it no problem so Bryce 6 should sail through. Must say though, that they did'nt have any intricate clothing tex on. Excellent work. Well done!

You've done a superb job, both on the rendering and the modelling - I'm really looking forward to the final scene if these guys are just Rosencrantz & Guildenstein type players! Bravo!

I think it's a wonderful scene -- these two could be on stage performing, as your choice of lighting and the dark environment could suggest -- very cool and well done! :)
