I suppose that engineers will never get over the fact the Wright Brothers were bicycle mechanics. Chanute was not Scotch. Lillenthal did not wear wool. My uncle thinks airplanes "float" like boats so this is not at all far fetched. He was an LCVT driver in WW-II.
