Built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge this castle has no other purpose than to impress those who take things at face value. It is indefensible as a castle being built on sloping ground with the moat raised on the lower side. To drain the moat one would only have had to dig away the bank and the water would be gone. It did impress his friends who could come down for hunting trips in the local woods and countryside however. It has never seen battle being built well away from the coast in Sussex Downland.
Many thanks for viewing and comments,
Richard.

Lovely shot, I used to live not far from Bodiam Castle, the fireworks displays there are awesome with the reflections off the moat. The interior of the castle was taken out in 1643 and has been partially restored by the National Trust.
