Description

I got bryce6 from daz and spent a whole day downloading it(Dial up)Rendered this simple image and was pretty happy with it..Then tried another with some reflective surfaces..that one turned out O.K. also..then i tried something with water and reflections and character..the program rendered the image but wouldnt let me save it..so started again from scratch to recreate the same image...(Saving scene files along the way).as it was rendering i noticed that my photoshop and poser programs had stopped because the new bryce was using up all my CPU power and even looking at things on the internet were intereupted by its use..well it ended it render and wouldnt let me save again and when i reopened a save scene file for the image it wasnt complete.it had only saved the very first time i hit save and didnt save any of the other times..Then i got a letter from my Favorite bryce artist Vjera(from Croatia)saying she couldnt get her bryce6 to work either and DAZ wasnt returning her mail..so i went to the DAZ Forum and found out that it is just one big honey covered mess over there...The thing is so full of bugs!!,, i would give them a chance to fix it before you load it in your computer as it is one big hairy bug....I think it is a very poor way to test the product..they did this with DAZ studio, but that was part of the development of a free program...This is not..Sorry to gripe all the time but the quality of our artwork and depth of our pocketbooks is at stake..and to say you get a new upgraded program for 6 dollars(members only) is a farce too.as the program hasnt changed that much, but you can buy the new content that should have come with it for 95$(unless you are a member)..and most of that is old and for bryce4 and 5 and has been for sale for ages. I would be more than happy to here of your experiences with this new program ..good or bad..as the forums at daz are really rather honey coated and i dont see anyone very concerned..the only suggestions i have had so far is for me to become one of the beta testers..but that sounds like a job and i already have 2 of those..but now Bryce6 users, we have all paid to be the testers..

I downloaded it but have not really tried it yet. I've got Vue, so the only real reason I picked it up was because I could get it for $6. Now, I'm just waiting to get my upgrade to V6I. WOO HOO.

I did the same thing (downloaded for hours) but I also haven't installed it yet. I was very happy with Bryce 5, the only complaint (big one) was render time. I did upgrade to Bryce 5.5 and that works fine most of the time, but every once in awhile it quits on me. Thank you for posting your picture, which is great and letting us Bryce users know more work has to be done on Bryce 6. Bryce 6 will stay on the disk I saved it to until I hear they have fixed the bugs. I don't need to waste memory and agro on losing work. :o( Thanks for letting us know and have a safe and wonderful weekend :o) Alexis

I didn't buy it. Contemplated buying it and said no because f all the costs for content and what not. Seems to have been a good idea (although I like your simple test render here). I'm a PC member at DAZ but for some reasons I do not like them very much...

I experienced much the same sorts of things with the download of Bryce 5...the memory issues, the won't saves, and the like. I thought it was maybe just because it was a freebie, but now I'm thinking maybe not. Meantime, I believe I will just stick with Poser, which only crashes (mostly) when I get really carried away with the number of elements in a scene. Oh, and the kissing giraffes?...nice, very nice. Still I bet you could have gotten the same or better out of Poser, and without the frustrations.

YOur hard work and exsaperation has paid off Bill. Don't think I'll attempt it until it's stabilised. Nevertheless, this is such impressive work and if you can produce stuff like this, it is well worth the learning curve. Full marks for perserverance and a good result! Steve :o)

I've downloaded 6 and did'nt experience any bugs so far, I use Bryce from the beginning and its still slow in tranceparency renders. The connection between Daz Studio works very well, I still try to find out the differency between all the previous versions, but I like working and play around with the stuff. Your giraffes are indeed, a cute creation. Some day there will be a upgrade to repair the bugs you've experienced. Beautyful image! RS

I purchased B6 yesterday. As a PCmember it was cheep at 6$. I have not loaded, or played with it yet. I do not have prior releases of Bryce, and did not see that it is only an upgrade???? I think I'll give it a try in the next couple of days. They do have a 30 day money back guarantee.

I got it for $6. and even if there is development time the price is such that I don't really see a problem. I was happy with the results from some simple renders I did ....the interface with DAZ studio is so great and moving from poser to bryce through Daz studio is really terrific. Used to be you had to buy differnt programs to get the stuff shipped across the abyss!...lol...Daz has kept bryce alive and I am all for that. Patience in time grass becomes milk.!

Hiyas Primal: Very nice image indeed! i like the soft tones and cool textures. The poses are just perfect BTW! I just downloaded Bryce 6 just as a reflect act, LOL i wouldn't spect soo much for that software at least compared for what we would get in V6I, almost same engine, same GUI, same old problems, some improvements the DAZ integration is a real plus even i almost dont use DAZ studio and of course, and some inserted and brand new bugs....BUT at $6.00 is a real must to have it! i just download it but i dont intall it yet, this weekend i hope to have some spare hours to play with.

Sorry @ your rendering problems. Have no knowledge or expertise to share, but I do love your giraffes. Thanks for sharing them. BJ BTW best of luck taming that thing or rounding it up and sending it back! BJ

Good pic. Visit the bryce forum here. Lots of help on some of the issues. Most of the time it is something simple. Like, if you didn't install all of the content, etc...

Well I bought Bryce6 for $6...well $35.99 because I'm a monthly member LOL!! I opened it and the only thing that changed was the colour of the stage LOL!! It did not take me that long because of DSL and when it asked me if i wanted to uninstall 5.5 I said no, so I have both still intact. The only thing that changed was the upgrade to DAZ Studio. I would like to use Bryce 6 more but if there are issues I will wait till all the bugs are out. I wonder if it'll be the same for Poser 7 when it comes out???? hmmmmm Nice image btw!!!!

I have heard the same thing from others, I can only guess that there is a difference between the Windows version and the Macintosh version, because so far, I have not had THAT problem. Though I have (Since my posted reviews) discovered some strange, not so great, issues with Bryce 6, like odd behavior in the terrain brushing? Not enough to regret upgrading, but enough to be wary, like what other features may be odd....thanks for this informative example! I think it is crucial that we as a community share what we find, good and bad!

You image is fun. I like the two giraffes and the pose of them kissing (?). I have Bryce 6 also. I got it for $6 and I notice the rendering speed was greatly increased from B5. There were a few minor changes from B5, but I hadn't had time really to play with it since I had it. I'm playing with P6 now that I finally upgraded with P7 on the horizon. P6 is sweet.
