Description

As promised, here is the juvenile male bald eagle. He is 4 days younger than his big sister whom he idolizes.(my next post). In this shot he is watdhing her as she practices flaps her wings in pre-flight raining. It takes 4 to 5 yrs before the juveniles develop their adult plumage with the trademark white capped heads. Until then, they are often mistaken for Golden Eagles. Hope you enjoy it. John

Yes they are free!!! The Department of Natural resources knows the location of most of the eagles nests throughout the United States and checks them for newborns each year and bands them shortly after birth so they can keep track of them.
