Description

Carcassonne walls, France. The site in the top right photo makes me stop dead in my tracks and I find it really frightening to walk by this bit. It's the second time it's happened and last time I approached this arch from the opposite direction so had no idea it was the same place this time until I recognised it by looking back. It has a very sinister feel to it.

how I understand your feelings. Before I read about it the top right struck me ! Very beautiful collage ! How lucky you were to see it by night. I have been there very long ago but by day. Have a good day...

Makes you wonder what may have happened there that is calling out to some part of your subconscious mind, eh? These are fabulous, Rozanne, especially the top right - lighted by such a golden sunset. Now I Know I'm going to render a castle; this is so inspiring! What a wonderful (if somewhat spooky) place, thanks for sharing it!!

The gate to the guillotine! Just kidding. Certainly impressive ancient achitecture bathing in the warm light!

Such places can seem to exude "Creepy-ness" through the very stone. I believe your experience. From the photo it's a bit eerie, in part I think because the lower part has that hallway that is lit up. Excellent castle shots!!! Love castles!!!!

Dear Rozanne, I know what you mean about that "creepy" feeling. There is an old mission down in south Texas I've visited a number of time that always makes me feel uneasy. It can be August and over a hundred outside, but those massive stone wall always make it cold inside! (Or at least feel cold!!) I always end up looking over my shoulder. These are really neat shots and turned out really well shooting with the available lighting on the three night ones!! Excellent work!!! Love, Meredith

Great shot, Rozanne. Sorry that you experienced the wrong sort of 'frisson'. I very rarely get the cold ones, but very often get the 'deja vu' type, and not necessarily at a scene of human habitation. Regards, John.
